The use of sarcasm is often intended to convey a negative message by using words that appear to be positive. According to Nunan (1991) quoted from research by Fathul Munir (2016), vocabulary is not just a list of words in the target language. Based on this definition, it can be concluded that vocabulary has a close relationship with grammar. The lexical system of most languages can be divided into grammatical word categories. | The first related research is from Laela Putriana Melawati (2021) entitled “AN ANALYSIS OF SARCASM IN MARVEL'S MOVIE "VENOM"”. (2008), reading is a linear process where the reader deciphers a text word by word, connecting the words into phrases and then sentences. According to Angelov, Plamen P., et al. (2021), Artificial intelligence (AI) is artificial intelligence that is closely related to machine learning (ML) and logic and forms of symbolic reasoning. In recent years, Machine Learning (ML) and data-focused statistical techniques have experienced rapid growth. This is due to the significant increase in the amount and complexity of data now available, an unprecedented phenomenon. Today, most data is unstructured, with an increase in the amount of images, video, text, and speech compared to the 20th-century era. | The first research from Ali, J. K. M., Shamsan, M. A. According to Yanti K. Lase (2022), Discovery Learning refers to various learning design models that engage students in learning through discovery. Discovery learning first provides students with structured experiences so that they can discover definitions, concepts and structures of material. One of the advantages of the Discovery Learning Strategy is that it makes students active in participating in the learning process. However, in the phenomenon that occurs, students are less active in the learning process. Method definitions are provided to increase understanding (Yasminar Amaerita, 2023), the Discovery Learning method provides more opportunities for students to become active learners and creative writers. This is related to teaching activities where students are encouraged to discover new knowledge that they have never known through several learning steps: observing, thinking, asking, and finally discovering that knowledge. | The first previous study is written by Ringgi C. Prawerti (2014) entitled “THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING DISCOVERY LEARNING METHOD IN TEACHING WRITING SKILL VIEWED FROM THE STUDENTS’ CREATIVITY”. The aim of the research is to reveal whether: (1) Discovery Learning Method is more effective than Direct Method to teach writing to the tenth grade; (2) The students who have high creativity have better writing skill than those who have low creativity of the tenth grade of that school; (3) there is an interaction between teaching method and creativity to teach writing to the tenth grade that school. The data was collected by using test. | The second previous study is written by Eli Krisnawati (2015) entitled “THE IMPLEMENTATION OF TEACHING WRITING USING DISCOVERY LEARNING TO THE EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS AT SMPN 1 GROGOL IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2014/2015”. The research design applied in this research is qualitative and the technique of this research is case study. To get the data, the researcher used three instruments. They are observation, interview and documentation. As the result, the researcher conclude that in teaching learning process the teacher implemented the discovery learning did not perfect, there were some steps that did not apply. | The third previous study is written by Ariyana, Enawar, Ramadhani S. Intan, Agus (2020) entitled “THE APPLICATION OF DISCOVERY LEARNING MODELS IN LEARNING TO WRITE DESCRIPTIVE TEXTS”. The purpose of this study was to describe the application of discovery learning models in learning to write descriptive texts. The research method uses descriptive methods. Data collection techniques using observation techniques, test writing descriptive text, and documentation. Data analysis techniques by reducing data, data presentation, data interpretation, conclusions. The results showed that the steps of the discovery learning model in learning to write descriptive texts are to describe topics, ask questions, formulate hypotheses, carry out investigations, conduct observations, organize or analyze, and present the results of investigations. | Due to the problems often experienced by students who are less active in learning, the author is interested in implementing the Discovery Learning Strategy. Is this learning strategy effective in increasing students' interest in learning and requiring them to be more active in the learning process? How the results of the Discovery Learning strategy can help students strengthen understanding and memory and make students more active. Therefore, this research is a challenge for the author to conduct experiments with the Discovery Learning model which is used as an alternative for learning to write descriptive text. | From the 3 previous studies used as references, this research will focus on the effectiveness of discovery learning strategies in teaching students to write descriptive texts. The method used in this research uses descriptive methods. Regarding the design used in this research, it is experimental with two variables, namely the independent variable and the dependent variable. The Independent variable in this research is learning English to write descriptive texts using either the discovery learning model or the conventional learning model.
